It is with much regret that I’m informing the South African nation of the sad news that a darling of my life is now seeking a new love. We were wonderful companions for a long time, but our relationship has unfortunately deteriorated so much that working at it any further would be a futile exercise, much like doing sit-ups while sipping beer through a straw.

The truth is, the problem is me, not her. When we lived in Pretoria, I took her out every morning of my life, and went home with her every night. It was necessary for us to have a tight relationship, since traffic above the Boerewors Gordyn is just unbearable, especially if you’re using a vehicle with more than three wheels.
Since we’ve moved to Humansdorp in the Eastern Cape, and I’m living not even a kilometre from where I work, she has lost that important edge. I no longer look on her with loving eyes. I no longer wish to take her for rides. It is me, not her.
