Qualifications / Memberships:
Senior Certificate or equivalent
Valid Driver’s licence & Transport
Experience:
Critical
5 Years+ Proven experience in a volume retail sales environment incorporating front line sales and supervision of 10+ staff
Experience with budget development, target implementation and profitable operation of a retail environment
Knowledge of human resource and personnel management principles, including experience with recruitment and selection
Desirable
A thorough understanding of warehousing processes.
Experience in a volume fashion retail sales environment.
Key Skills:
Maximize store profitability to ensure that sales targets are met or exceeded
Ensure the highest level of customer service is offered at all times
Effectively manage all operational aspects of the store inclusive of store presentation, housekeeping, security, customer relations, stock management, ordering, rostering and ongoing supervision of staff
Ensure budgets and targets are communicated to staff and are achieved or exceeded
Ensure stock is available and plant and equipment is maintained
Ensure all staff are adequately trained and developed
Maintain appropriate communication and information sharing with staff incorporating training, recognition of performance, leadership and direction and performance management
Ensure company policy and procedures are available, there is staff awareness and compliance
Maintain high levels of store administration inclusive of stock management, banking, security, housekeeping and merchandise management
Provide adequate levels of product management to warrant optimum stock levels and effective price variations
Manage stock handling to ensure accuracy of stock reconciliations and stock takes
Provide timely and accurate reports as regards stock issues, sales and turnover, wages and costs
Ensure personal presentation of all staff is clean and consistent
Provide support in the development of sales budgets and targets and information required for ongoing reporting requirements
Documentation and communication of daily sales information & performance factors.
Manage staffing levels, ensuring these are in line with budgeted targets
Ensure recruitment is carried out effectively and in a timely manner
Ensure expectations are clearly understood by all staff through the use of Position Descriptions and Objectives and these are supported by clear communication regarding any topical business issues
Carry out on going Coaching, Training and Career Management to ensure people in your team are aware of their performance and opportunities for growth
Implement the performance management system, ensure key individuals have retention plans, whilst those who are not meeting expectations are approached in a timely and formal process.
Ensure you and your team’s adherence to legal and policy requirements (e.g. Workplace Health and Safety, policies, harassment and discrimination laws)
Other tasks may be assigned from time to time which contribute to the overall success of the company
